WHY YUYO?
Our finca is located in the middle of the tropical rainforest rich in flora and fauna. You might see some. monkeys, sloths, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds, trogons, and many other animals.
Punta Uva beach is half an hour away by bike, great for surfing, and the national parks of Manzanillo and Cahuita are nearby. Puerto Viejo, a Caribbean dream destination with vegan restaurants, is also close
We are experienced in permaculture, construction, vegan cooking, ecological activism, living in different open concepts and are happy to share our knowledge and experiences with you.
We offer healthy, vegan food and drinking water, with some of the food already ready for harvest. Our large kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a fridge, to prepare your meals.
HOW WOULD YOUR TYPICAL WORKING DAY LOOK LIKE?
The workday starts at 8:20 am with repro work (cleaning), specifically tidying up a commonly used room, which takes approximately 30 minutes.
After that, we need support with mowing using the electric week whacker and with rebuilding the composting system.
Additionally, we need assistance with our website and social media presence.
Depending on your interests and skills, we will find the tasks that suit you best.
The shift ends from Monday to Thursday at 1:10 pm with a 20 minute break in the middle of the work period, which does not count towards the working hours. On Fridays you finish at 10:30 am for a total of 20 hours a week.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Days Off: Two days off per week
Food: Three vegan meals every day
Accommodation: Two-person dorm room
Spanish Lessons: Every Tuesday and Thursday
Bicycle Rental: Volunteers can rent a bicycle for a small fee
Transportation: Easy to get around by walking, buses, shared taxis, tuk-tuks, or even hitchhiking
Open Office: Access to a computer and internet in our open office
Recreational Activities: Enjoy our dartboard, ping-pong table and board games
Movie Nights: Occasionally hosted
Music and Sewing: Guitar, bongos and a sewing machine available for your use
PLEASE NOTE
- Minimum stay is 30 days, preferably longer
- Please bring your own clothes that can get dirty, rubber boots & rain gear for working (whatever you need).
- Only vegan food. We tolerate cheese in the volunteers kitchen. Also coffee and industrial sugar.
- If you want to use drugs, do it outside the premises and never before or during working hours.
