18 – Jaguar Rescue Center

How it works

The Jaguar Rescue Center cares for sick, injured, and orphaned animals—especially monkeys, sloths, birds, and reptiles—providing veterinary treatment and assistant 24 hours a day to help them survive and recover.

How to support

There are several ways in which you can support this project:

  • Through direct donations.
  • Alternatively, stay in one of the three unique accommodations:
    La Ceiba House
    Ilán Ilán House
    Jaguar Inn Bungalow
  • You can also explore the area with a guided tour, available in both English and Spanish.

Practical information

  • Public tours are available from Monday to Sunday: First tour is at 9:30 a.m and the second one is at 11:30 a.m
    *There are also private tours every day at 2:00 p.m
  • The Public tour costs around $28 per person and the private one costs $80 per person (minimum 2 visitors)
  • The JRC is located in Playa Chiquita, about 6.5 km from the center of Puerto Viejo
