Eyelash Viper

Well, this viper is one of those things:
We found it in the so-called pigsty. It’s called that because the previous owner also kept animals here, which we don’t want. So until further notice, we are using the pigsty to store wood, stones, metal, but also plastic waste, scrap metal, building rubble etc. found on the site until we find a solution for environmentally friendly disposal.
Anyway, I was there that day with our volunteer Emma from the UK to explain to her how we would sort the wooden beams and boards. I didn’t have my glasses with me and specifically told her to be careful, as there were ideal snake hiding places under all the plastic and wood.
At the same moment, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a thick piece of rope lying on a blue plastic barrel standing around, open at the top, which didn’t seem to belong there, as we were collecting small metal parts for the scrap dealer. So I reach into the thick “rope” and immediately realize that it doesn’t feel like a rope, but more like a living snake!
I look at it, get my suspicions confirmed and throw the snake into the barrel.
Then I take a closer look and see that the shape of the head already looks like a venomous snake…. Just a viper. I check my hand and forearm for bite wounds, but I didn’t feel anything. Then I get the camera and take these pictures, in the meantime it had wriggled back onto the edge of the barrel.
Later we picked it up with a plastic tube and released it in the jungle. I was lucky that she was so sleepy!
