🛤️ How to Reach Yuyo (english)

đźš— By Car

  • From Puerto Viejo, drive south along the coastal road toward Manzanillo.
  • Pass the three supermarkets in Cocles and the Hotel Camaleon.
  • About 200 meters later, turn left into Calle Ole Caribe.
  • Follow this road for about 800 meters.
  • After the first steep hill you’ll see a turn to the right (Y griega iglesia) – stay straight.
  • Continue about 1 km until the next Y griega, then keep left.
  • The road climbs uphill: pass Finca Antorcha (right), then Finca Maracu (left), and later a large black gate (left).
  • ⚠️ After the gate, the road bends left and gets rougher (downhill, then uphill). These last 400 meters of the road are challenging (especially in rain or after long droughts). A 4Ă—4 is recommended.
    Experienced drivers sometimes manage without, but be aware the track is rough.
  • At the top of the hill, you’ll see Project Yuyo on the right-hand side: several houses directly along the road. You’ll also notice building materials (sand, gravel) by the roadside. That’s the spot – you’ve arrived!

📡 Mobile Signal

  • ⚠️ Please note: If you use Kölbi or Liberty, you’ll likely lose signal around the black gate. With other providers, even earlier.
  • Don’t worry: once you reach the finca, you’ll have Wi-Fi again.

🅿️ Parking

  • We organize our life without a private car, but guests can park on the finca.
  • Parking costs 5 USD per night and goes 100% to our rainforest protection association Huelal-Totga

🛺 Tuk-tuk Option

  • If you prefer not to drive up, we recommend Fabian, a reliable tuk-tuk driver.
  • Price: about 9,000 CRC from Puerto Viejo (up to 2 people).
  • He knows the way very well and is usually cheaper than other tuk-tuk drivers.

Desde Puerto Viejo, conduce hacia el sur por la carretera costera en direcciĂłn a Manzanillo.

Pasa los tres supermercados de Cocles y el Hotel CamaleĂłn.

Unos 200 metros después, gira a la izquierda hacia Calle Ole Caribe.

Sigue esta carretera durante unos 800 metros.

Tras la primera cuesta pronunciada verás un desvío a la derecha (Y griega iglesia) – continúa recto.

Sigue aproximadamente 1 km hasta la siguiente Y griega, luego mantente a la izquierda.

La carretera empieza a subir: pasa Finca Antorcha (a la derecha), luego Finca Maracu (a la izquierda), y más adelante una gran puerta negra (a la izquierda).

⚠️ Después de la puerta, la carretera gira hacia la izquierda y se vuelve más irregular (baja y luego sube). Los últimos 400 metros son exigentes (especialmente con lluvia o tras sequía prolongada). Se recomienda 4×4.
Conductores con experiencia a veces lo logran sin él, pero ten en cuenta que el camino está en mal estado.

En lo alto de la colina verás el Proyecto Yuyo a mano derecha: varias casas justo al lado del camino. También notarás materiales de construcción (arena, grava) junto a la carretera. Ese es el lugar – ¡has llegado!

📡 Señal móvil
⚠️ Ten en cuenta: Si usas Kölbi o Liberty, probablemente perderás señal cerca de la puerta negra. Con otros proveedores puede ocurrir antes.

No te preocupes: al llegar a la finca tendrás Wi-Fi de nuevo.

🅿️ Aparcamiento
Organizamos nuestra vida sin coche privado, pero las personas invitadas pueden aparcar en la finca.

El aparcamiento cuesta 5 USD por noche y se destina al 100% a nuestra asociaciĂłn de protecciĂłn del bosque lluvioso Huelal-Totga.

🛺 Opción tuk-tuk
Si prefieres no subir en coche, recomendamos a Fabián, un conductor de tuk-tuk de confianza.

Precio: unos 9.000 CRC desde Puerto Viejo (para dos personas máximo).

Conoce muy bien el camino y suele ser más económico que otros tuk-tuks.
