🔎 Visible Characteristics
The yellow nance tree stands right next to the volunteer kitchen, with some of its branches extending over the slanted corrugated metal roof. When the fruits ripen, they occasionally fall onto the roof and roll slowly into the gutter, from where we fish them out. The sound of the fruits rolling down is remarkably similar to billiard balls dropping into the internal mechanism of a pool table, waiting to be released by inserting a coin. The tree is about 6 meters tall and likes its spot.

➕🌱 Our Replanting Plans
We would like to plant another Nance tree, as this one has proven to grow well and produce increasing amounts of fruit. Its hardiness and low maintenance make it particularly suitable for areas with challenging soil conditions, of which we have several on the finca. The best option might be to collect seeds from ripe fruits and germinate them in a shaded nursery area. Alternatively, if suckers or seedlings are found nearby, we could transplant those. We hope to encourage local propagation using our own material.

🔄🧑🌾 Care Plan – Regular Tasks
Some of the branches currently extend over the sloped roof of the volunteer kitchen, with a few resting directly on the metal surface. We plan to carefully prune those branches to reduce pressure on the structure and minimize potential damage. However, this pruning will be done outside the fruiting season to avoid disturbing the tree’s natural cycle and to allow us to continue collecting its delicious fruit.
